As plus size women, we have an unspoken fashion bond, when finding something that fits like a glove we want to tell each other or when we spot a store stocking some cute items we feel like we want to spread the word because that’s hard to come by sometimes. Or is that just me?
Either way, I thought I would do a “where I’m shopping” post every 2 months or so to keep you updated on where I am finding what.
I have been doing majority of my shopping at Pep for the last two months. I am just finding that their clothing is so suitable to my style, it fits really well and the price tag is sometimes unbelievable.
Pep owned summer this year because their skirts and dresses have been such winners. Cute prints, suitable fabrics and great fits.
I know that a lot of you are concerned with the quality and I can honestly say that it’s not as bad as you might think. Sure, there are a few items that will only see you through a few wears but you sort of learn which fabrics to buy. I never have problems with their viscose and it’s a common fabric for dresses, skirts and pants. I would be wary of their tee shirts because they aren’t always the best quality.
Their sizing goes up to a size 46 on most of their garments.
The Donatella range is always a bit hit and miss for me but it’s something I always know is worth checking out. I found my paperbag waistband skirt from Jet on sale and it is literally my favourite item in my cupboard at the moment.
I also love the underwear from Jet.
Donatella goes up to a size 50 and you can shop online. If you’re going in store it’s best to go to a bigger store because the variety is better.
Ackermans is a hidden gem. I almost never walk out of a store without something.
I always buy my leggings from Ackermans because they are like R80 and they have the thicker waistband and sit high which is comfortable. They also fit really nicely and the wear on them lasts a while.
Ackermans is great for blouses as well as long and short sleeve tees (they sell for R59.99 but sometimes have a sale where you buy 2 for R100).
Sizing goes up to a 46/48 on certain items.
Pick n Pay Clothing
Nikki from Two Babes on a Budget gave me the heads up on their awesome R59.99 classic tees so I have bought 3 different colours and am loving them.
And with winter coming up I will be going to PnP for all of my knitwear because they always have the widest variety.
Jeggings, jeggings, jeggings. And jeans. I always shop the David Jones section.
They’re pricey but the quality is great. The fit has changed slightly but they still fit better than most jeans I try on.
And that’s it. These are not the only places I shop at but these are the places I have been loving recently.
