Is my body positivity an excuse for being unhealthy?

This is a topic that is always flying around and everyone has their own opinion about whether or not body positivity actually promotes an unhealthy lifestyle because it is an “excuse” being labelled as a movement. I thought I would touch on this from my point of view and my journey (mine only). This is not to say that anyone on their own journeys, whatever they might be, is right or wrong because our journeys are personal, and that’s kind of the point of this post. It is no secret that I have lost and gained and lost and gained a lot of weight. I have tried everything, I have…

When Body Hate became Body Love

I asked on Instagram what you wanted to know about body positivity so that I could put together a blog post answering all your questions. I was honestly blown away by the responses because they weren’t the usual and weren’t at all what I expected which is great because not only do I have some really interesting questions to answer but I’ve had to really think about a lot of things. One of the questions was “can you remember the day or moment when the switch flipped” and I felt like I needed to dedicate a full post to this just because I have so much to say about it.…

    Why I’m so positive

I feel like my positivity has become a large part of my identity and it’s one of the things I love most about myself. It is also something that so many of you comment on so I thought I’d talk more about it and share why it means so much to me.  I have openly spoken about my childhood struggles and I will continue to speak about them because it is my story and those struggles are a large part of who I am and I can say that proudly today. I also hope that my past, present or future story can help someone who needs it. If you would like to…

This is about more than likes for me

So I’ve been thinking… a lot. I started Kandidly Kerry as a way to share my journey with whoever would listen. It was basically an online journal because I love writing and I love sharing. I will be honest in saying that amongst my goals when I started were to become a popular blogger and work with some fashion brands and do cool photoshoots and to get involved in events, along with creating an authentic and positive space and connecting with likeminded women, of course! But it has since become so much more than that. It is so much more than the number of likes on my Instagram pictures It…

    The real price of happiness

I have followed The Minimalists on Twitter for years and a minimalistic way of life has always been something I was interested in but never properly looked into it or paid it enough attention so why am I suddenly taking it so seriously? Let me tell you why. No it’s not because I want to sell all my stuff and travel the world with one suitcase, I also don’t want to move into a tiny house and live with the bare minimum (major respect to anyone who does either of the above) but because I have always been very aware of my attachment to material possessions, my addiction to shopping…
